The Tennessee Volunteers’ baseball program kicked off its 2026 campaign on Friday afternoon against the Nicholls State Colonels, and the Rocky Top faithful showed up in force for the start of the new season.
According to Rocky Top Insider, 6,977 fans made their way into a newly renovated Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Friday to see sophomore ace Tegan Kuhns and the rest of the Vols, setting a new attendance record in the process.
Everyone in attendance certainly got their money’s worth from Kuhns, as the electric righty tossed 6.2 scoreless innings against the Colonels, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run, and striking out 8 batters in the process.
Fans in attendance also got to enjoy all the new upgrades completed at Lindsey Nelson Stadium over the offseason, including expanded seating, renovated concession stands and bathrooms, and luxury suites.
All of this and more was added as part of a multi-year, $100-million renovation project that has completely transformed Tennessee’s home ballpark into one of the best venues in college baseball.
Vol fans are sure be packing out Lindsey Nelson Stadium all spring and summer long as Tennessee looks to chase down another trip to Omaha and the College World Series come June.
