Texas kept its 2025 season alive with a lopsided win over former Big 12 foe Kansas State. The Longhorns won 15-8 to advance to the regional finals for a rematch with UTSA.

The No. 2 national seed, Texas surprisingly found itself in an elimination game on Sunday after a Saturday night loss to UTSA in the winner’s bracket game. With the season on the line, the Longhorns went to work early Sunday.

Texas broke the scoring ice with 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning playing as the visitor at Disch-Falk Field. Kansas State got 3 back in the bottom half of the frame to keep the game from getting out of hand – briefly.

In the top of the 3rd inning, the Longhorns added 4 runs to make it a 10-3 game. UT would make it 8 unanswered runs, adding 1 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to open the lead to 14-3 before the Wildcats would score again.

Casey Borba had an 8-RBI day, including a grand slam.

KSU’s bats woke up again, but it was too little, too late for any kind of comeback. Kansas State scored 5 runs across the final 3 innings, but that was far from enough down by double digits.

For Texas, Ruger Riojas got the win. While it’s not his best statline of the year (7 ER, 6 H, 6 K, 2 BB), he was able to throw 119 pitches, going 7.1 innings and allowing. Jim Schlossnagle to save the bullpen. Cody Howard handled the final 1.2 innings.
