With the regular season for college baseball winding down, Vanderbilt and Tennessee continued their annual rivalry series on Saturday evening in Knoxville. The Vols entered Game 2 with an edge after a lockdown outing from Liam Doyle paved the way to a Game 1 win.
However, the second game in the series would turn into a slugfest between the two sides, with both starters combining to surrender 9 earned runs. Through 5 innings, Vanderbilt was clinging to a 6-4 lead, but the Commodores would completely bust things open in the 6th inning.
Vanderbilt would send 8 batters to the plate in the frame, with Tennessee also committing 2 errors to keep things rolling along. The Commodores finished with 4 runs scored to pace the way to a 10-6 win to even the series at 1 game apiece.

Offensively, Vanderbilt piled up 10 hits in the barrage, but only 3 of those hits went for extra bases. Braden Holcomb had a home run and 3 RBI for the Commodores, while RJ Austin also chipped in 3 RBI in the win.
On the flip side, Tennessee had 3 home runs, including an early 2-run shot from Hunter Ensley in a hot weekend for the outfielder. Gavin Kilen and Andrew Fischer also homered in the game.
The two sides will be back in action with a rubber match on Sunday. First pitch is set for 2 pm, and there is still plenty to play before as teams begin preparing for the SEC Baseball Tournament around the corner.
