Alabama overcomes slow start, pulls away for double-digit win over Ole Miss
Amidst plenty of off-court drama and noise surrounding the program, Alabama blocked it all out to easily take down Ole Miss…at least late in the game.
The Crimson Tide found themselves trailing 20-13 with just under 9 minutes left in the opening half of Wednesday’s matchup, as Nate Oats’ normally prolific offense struggled to find much of a rhythm early on.
But after rallying to lead by 2 at the half, Alabama was able to control the game for much of the second as it methodically pulled away for a 93-74 win.
Latrell Wrightsell paced the Crimson Tide with 21 points, while Labaron Philon tacked on 18 and Aiden Sherrell added 15. Amari Allen notably led the team with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
AJ Storr poured in 27 points for the home side, with Eduardo Klafke being the only other Rebel in double-figures with a dozen.
Ole Miss claimed a 36-16 advantage when it came to points in the paint, but Alabama countered with 15 fast-break points to Ole Miss’ 5.
The result makes it 3 wins in a row for Oats’ squad, and a two-game homestand against South Carolina and Arkansas looms.
Having returned to Oxford for the first time in nearly a month due to recent severe winter weather, the Rebels will next welcome rivals Mississippi State to town Saturday.
