After starting the season 16-0, No. 15 Vanderbilt has now dropped three straight games following a blowout loss to No. 20 Arkansas on Tuesday night, 93-68.
Star freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. led the way for the Razorbacks with 17 points on 50% shooting from the field. Sophomore wing Karter Knox added 16 points, and freshman guard Meleek Thomas chipped in 13 as well. Senior forward Malique Ewin also added 16 points off the bench.
For Vanderbilt, senior forward Tyler Nickel led the way with 17 points, knocking down 5 3-pointers, and Tyler Tanner also added 11 points despite shooting 3-for-10 from the field.
The Commodores struggled to shoot the ball in this game, shooting a measly 38% from the field compared to the Razorbacks, who shot 58%. The length of Arkansas caused some problems for the Commodores, who were out-rebounded by the Razorbacks 39 to 27.
The Razorbacks opened the game on a 25-10 run and never looked back. The Commodores didn’t lead for a single second.
After finding themselves down 19 late in the first half, the Commodores clawed their way back into the game and got to the halftime break down just 11. But the Razorbacks pulled away again in the second half, consistently stringing together stops. They led by as many as 31 late in the game.
Arkansas will host LSU at home on Saturday, with tipoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Commodores are on the road Saturday to take on Mississippi State at 6 p.m. ET.
