Auburn and Alabama basketball are set to face off in a preseason exhibition game at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) in Birmingham, according to a report from On3 Sports’ Justin Hokanson on Wednesday. That matchup is set to be played on October 22, and serves to raise funds for both program’s NIL collectives.
Looks like we have a preseason IBOB (Iron Bowl of Basketball) on our hands, ladies and gentlemen.

This should be a more intense preseason exhibition than we are used to. While the NCAA recently updated its rules to allow for 3 preseason exhibition matchups per team, these exhibitions almost always square non-conference foes against each other.
This preseason, though, Alabama has a pair of exhibition matchups set against SEC teams. In addition to facing off against Auburn, the Crimson Tide will also square off against Ole Miss during this year’s Ballin’ in Boutwell preseason exhibition series.
Auburn will also be at the Ballin ‘ in Boutwell series. The Tigers are set to take on Florida State on October 14.
