Auburn picked up a key piece for the 2025-26 roster on Tuesday, grabbing a former star from SEC rival Mississippi State in the transfer portal.

That player is KeShawn Murphy in a homecoming of sorts for the 6-foot-10 star for the Bulldogs. Murphy played for Birmingham’s Ramsay High School and was the No. 3 player out of Alabama in the 2021 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite.

Now, he’s coming to Auburn to play for Bruce Pearl after a breakout junior season in Starkville, according to Joe Tipton with On3 Sports:

Pearl confirmed the addition with a brief post on social media and has been retweeting articles and highlights of Murphy via his X (formerly Twitter) account:

Auburn is looking to reload a roster that advanced to the Final Four after one of the best regular-season performances in recent college basketball history. Murphy is lined up to be a key piece after a breakout season off the bench for the Bulldogs.

Though making just 3 starts this past season, Murphy appeared in 34 games and was MSU’s 2nd-leading scorer at 11.7 points per game. He also led the team with 7.4 rebounds and added 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals and shot 56.6% from the floor.

According to 247 Sports, Murphy was a 4-star transfer prospect and the No. 36 overall player available.
