Arkansas basketball took down Auburn on Saturday night thanks to a career night from freshman phenom Darius Acuff. The Razorbacks started fast and kept their foot pressed firm on the pedal on the way to an 88-75 win.
With that, the Razorbacks are 19-6 on the season and remain in second place among league programs at 9-3, behind only Florida at 10-2.
For now, though, let’s focus on Acuff, who tied his season high in points with 31. Of those 31 points, 21 were scored from behind the 3-point arc – Acuff hit 7 of his 10 3-pointers on the afternoon, which is also a career high. To top it all off, Acuff finished his MVP performance with 7 assists, 2 rebounds and just 1 turnover across 38 minutes of action. Hard to do much better than that, folks.
Here’s a look at some of Acuff’s best plays of the night:
Of course, Acuff wasn’t doing it all by himself out there. Billy Richmond also turned in a career night, scoring a season-high 25 points – 10 more than his previous high, which came against Queens pre-Christmas break. Trevon Brazile turned in a strong outing as well, totaling an efficient 11 points with 4 blocks and 7 rebounds.
Arkansas has won 3 straight and 6 of its last 7, some much-needed momentum heading into a gargantuan matchup against Alabama on Wednesday.
