ESPN’s Analytics gave its prediction for who will win the SEC basketball matchup between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Texas Longhorns, giving the Longhorns an 85.6 % chance of picking up the win.

The Gamecocks are coming off a 92-87 loss to LSU in their last contest and they have lost six of their last seven games. Defense has been a big issue recently for South Carolina, as the Gamecocks have given up 92, 95 and 92 points in their last three games. Leading the way for South Carolina in scoring this year is Meechie Johnson, who is averaging 15.6 points a game.

The Longhorns have been one of the more inconsistent teams in college basketball in Sean Miller’s first season as the Texas coach. At times, the Longhorns have looked outstanding in consecutive wins against Alabama and Vanderbilt. However, they haven’t been able to sustain any momentum for an extended period, and that is why the Longhorns are in danger of not making it to the NCAA Tournament.

The schedule is set up to make a run for Texas though, as this is game two of six consecutive games against teams not currently ranked in the Top 25.

The Gamecocks and Longhorns are set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET in Austin, with the game being televised by on the SEC Network.
