ESPN Analytics has updated its projection for the Sweet 16 matchup between Texas and Purdue, and the numbers say it is going to be very tough game for the Longhorns to win.
Sean Miller’s team had to make it here the tough way, as the Texas Longhorns had to face-off against NC State in a First Four game. However, they have been on a tear since the, knocking off BYU and then the No. 3 Gonzaga Bulldogs en route to the Sweet 16.
The Longhorns have only a 24.4% chance of winning this game, according to the ESPN Analytics. The matchup will be on Thursday night, and the game will tip at 7:10 p.m. ET with the game being aired on CBS.
What has made this run by Texas even more impressive is that the Longhorns limped into the NCAA Tournament. They lost 5 of their last 6 games entering the tournament, but are playing their best basketball right now. Matas Vokietaitis has been huge for Texas during the Big Dance, as he is averaging 18.3 points and 11 rebounds over the last three games.
