ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has shared a Bracketology update ahead of Wednesday’s SEC basketball slate. There are 3 conference games on Wednesday, including 2 teams Lunardi has on the bubble. In a companion tweet to his ESPN.com Bracketology update, Lunardi looked at what Wednesday night’s results could mean for Florida and Mississippi State.
The Gators have won 3 straight and have boosted their status from First Four Out to Last Four In appearing in a potential First Four opening-round game. Mike White’s squad hosts Georgia on Wednesday night (6:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network).
“A Florida (“Last Four In”) loss to Georgia would drop the Gators from the projected field,” Lunardi writes.
Mississippi State, meanwhile, is one of the First Four Out in Lunardi’s Bracketology. The Bulldogs lost to Arkansas last time out. Ben Howland’s squad, however, can significantly boost its NCAA Tournament resume against Tennessee (9 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
“Mississippi State (“First Four Out”) puts itself in position to move up and into the field by beating Tennessee at home tonight,” Lunardi writes.
Alabama, currently a No. 6 seed in Lunardi’s Bracketology, is at Ole Miss on Wednesday night. The game is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
Here are the 8 SEC teams featured Lunardi’s Bracketology:
- Auburn (No. 1 overall seed, Midwest)
- Kentucky (No. 2 seed, East)
- Tennessee (No. 5 seed, Midwest)
- LSU (No. 7 seed, Midwest)
- Alabama (No. 6 seed, South)
- Arkansas (No. 7 seed, West)
- Florida (No. 12 seed, South, First Four game)
- Mississippi State (First Four Out)
