Jalen Washington no longer eligible following recent court ruling

With college football season set to kick off this weekend and college basketball looming just a couple months behind it, conversations in the sports world are somehow not centered around the pastimes themselves.
Instead, headlines have been dominated by who will be allowed to play on the field or court, with the NCAA’s recent ‘5-in-5’ rule creating a domino effect that still sees no end.
After a plethora of former college athletes–some of whom had already appeared at the professional level–filed lawsuits to claim another year of eligibility, the NCAA recently earned some wins with state appeal courts issuing orders to stay the original injunction that was awarded to the plaintiff athletes.
With Tennessee being one of those states, a program that will be heavily impacted is the Volunteers basketball team, as Rick Barnes & Co. will now likely be without the services of Vanderbilt transfer center Jalen Washington.
Washington transferred to join the Commodores following three seasons at North Carolina. He posted the best numbers of his career under Mark Byington, averaging 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
Now, Loyola-Chicago transfer Miles Rubin and VCU transfer Christian Fermin will be counted upon to handle the dirty work down low for Tennessee this season.
