Former Tennessee forward Jaylen Carey has committed to Missouri.
Carey, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, was a key player for the Volunteers in 2025-26. Carey previously played for James Madison and Vanderbilt, so Mizzou will be his fourth stop since beginning his college career.
News of his commitment to Dennis Gates was first shared by On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday evening:
Carey is one of several key players who departed Tennessee after the Vols lost in the Elite Eight for the third straight season.

Mizzou is getting an SEC-proven forward who has been consistently impactful as a bench big. For Tennessee this past season, Carey started 8 games and averaged 7.4 points and 6 rebounds per game. He put up similar numbers for Vandy in 2024-25.
Now in Columbia, Carey could have a chance to start for the Tigers in 2026-27. He joins a Mizzou program that has reached the NCAA Tournament in 3 of the last 4 seasons. However, the Tigers have not made it out of the first round since Gates’ first campaign in 2022-23.
Mizzou will be hoping that Carey can be a big part of taking a significant leap next season.
