Kentucky forward Milan Momcilovic suffers injury in practice, per report

Big Blue Nation is going through it. The Kentucky Wildcats‘ fanbase is displeased at how the Mark Mitchell situation seemingly resolved itself, and now has to deal with an injury to its actual star transfer acquisition.
According to Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones, forward Milan Momcilovic “severely jammed” his index finger in practice. Jones, who initially reported Momcilovic broke his finger, tweeted the news on Friday morning. He noted the injury occurred on Momcilovic’s shooting hand.
Momcilovic transferred to Kentucky from Iowa State after averaging a career-high 16.9 points for the Cyclones in 2025-26. The bulk of his offensive production came from behind-the-arc, where he shot 48.7% last season. That mark was the highest percentage in college basketball.
Shortly after Jones’ report, Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman reported that Momcilovic “broke his finger about a month ago.”
Whether or not Momcilovic legitimately broke his finger, the consensus now seems to be that he’ll be ready for the Wildcats’ first practice of the season. That is a tremendous update for BBN, who has seen players drop like flies the past couple years.
Kentucky hosts Little Rock (Oct. 16), Texas Tech (Oct. 23) and UCF (Oct. 28) in exhibitions before opening the 2026-27 campaign on Nov. 3rd versus Manhattan. Tip for all of those contests are to be announced.
