Kentucky is bringing home a Lexington native with the Wildcats securing a nice pickup in the transfer portal.
On Monday, center Reece Potter committed to Mark Pope and Kentucky, according to Joe Tipton with On3 Sports. Potter is a 7-foot-1 big man who began his college career with 2 seasons at Miami (OH).

Coming out of high school, Potter was an unranked prospect after starring for Lexington Catholic High School. He appeared in 56 games for the RedHawks but made just 11 starts.
Even coming off the bench, Potter flashed his versatility and production, averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists across all contests. He also shot just shy of 40% from 3-point range (39.8%) as a unique big man talent.
That type of versatility is similar to the skill set displayed by Zvonimir Ivisic as a true freshman before he transferred to Arkansas and then to Illinois this offseason. The addition of Potter also brings Kentucky up to 6 incoming transfers for Mark Pope this offseason, a group that ranks 4th nationally in transfer recruit classes, according to 247 Sports.
The addition of Jayden Quaintance gives Kentucky a more traditional big man to go with Potter’s versatility, while Denzel Aberdeen and Jaland Lowe have helped rebuild the backcourt. We’ll see how the pieces gel on the court, but it’s an impressive outfit on paper.
