Latrell Wrightsell exited Alabama’s win over Auburn with a knee injury, having to be helped to the locker room after just 11 minutes of play. He was considered doubtful to return and did not make another appearance in what turned out to be a 96-92 win for the Crimson Tide.
We now have an update for Wrightsell, who should be good to go for Wednesday’s game against Ole Miss after a positive ultrasound, according to head coach Nate Oats.
With Wrightsell’s injury history, this is definitely positive news. Wrightsell has missed 2 separate stretches this season due to injury, having to be held out of 8 games in total – including Tide losses to Texas and Gonzaga.
Wrightsell is a consistent scoring option for Alabama, averaging 9.5 points per game. He’s been a sharpshooter in SEC play, sitting at 41% through 7 appearances in league matchups, averaging three 3-pointers per game in such contests. The veteran guard is one of several threats on offense in Alabama’s backcourt.
The Crimson Tide just wrapped up their best week of SEC play, beating Texas A&M on Wednesday and Auburn on Saturday. The Tide are currently 6-4 in conference play, and 4 of their next 5 opponents are under .500 in SEC play as we inch closer to March.
