The LSU Tigers made headlines in the world of college basketball earlier in the week when they announced the firing of head coach Matt McMahon alongside the re-hiring of former head coach Will Wade.

Wade was McMahon’s predecessor at LSU, serving as the head man for the Bayou Bengals from 2017 to 2022, and he will now be making his return to Baton Rouge after stops at McNeese and NC State over the past few seasons.

This change in leadership naturally led to some roster turmoil on the recruiting front for the Tigers, with On3’s Joe Tipton reporting on Saturday that 4-star LSU signee Kevin Thomas has officially requested a release from his Letter of Intent.

The Fort Lauderdale native was a 4-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting cycle and ranked among the top-100 players nationally. He committed to the Tigers over several other Power 4 programs back in October and officially signed with the team in November.

He was the highest rated signee that McMahon managed to bring on in the cycle, but he will now be looking at other options following the dismissal of the head coach he originally signed up to play under.
