Winter Storm Fern wreaked havoc throughout the sports world over the weekend, and its impacts are continuing to be felt.
LSU’s men’s basketball team is still stranded in Fayetteville according to WAFB-TV Sports Director Jacques Doucet, as he spoke with LSU’s Sports Information Director Kent Lowe on Saturday night after them team had discovered the news.
Doucet provided an update Sunday afternoon, revealing that Matt McMahon’s squad was still stuck out-of-state but was hoping to make it back to Baton Rouge later in the day.
The delay has given the Tigers more time to sit and stew on a hard-fought 85-81 loss to Arkansas on Saturday night. Darius Acuff Jr.’s 31 points propelled the Razorbacks to the win despite LSU out-rebounding the home side by 8 and making 15 more free throws.
Amidst a make-or-break season with the program, McMahon is desperately in need of another SEC win. The fourth-year head coach has seen his team falter mightily after beginning the season with a 12-1 record through non-conference play.
League action has brought with it a different story, as the Bayou Bengals’ lone SEC victory came over Missouri last weekend and the team has lost three games by double-digits.
LSU is currently set to host Mississippi State at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.
