LSU has reportedly made it official with French big man Brice Dessert.

The 6-foot-11 Dessert, currently a member of Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Turkey’s professional league, has signed with the Tigers, according to On3’s Shea Dixon. Dessert needed the green light from the NCAA to be eligible to sign with Will Wade’s program.

One player that Dessert played with on France’s youth international teams will be familiar to basketball fans: Victor Wembanyama. The two were on the team that won silver in the FIBA Eurobasket Under-16 tournament in 2019 and the FIBA U-19 World Cup in 2021.

To say that Wade’s first recruiting class since returning to LSU is unconventional would be an understatement.

Along with Dessert, the Tigers have a commitment from Marcio Santos, a 23-year-old Brazilian native who most recently played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and went unselected in the 2023 NBA Draft. There’s also RJ Luis, a former UMass and St. John’s player and former two-time NBA signee, who joins the Tigers after a year away from the game. Sailou Liang, a second-round pick in 2025, also pledged after playing professionally in Italy.

That’s not to say LSU doesn’t have players who are on board through more traditional means. Four players pledged to Wade out of the transfer portal.
