Mizzou just struck for a big-time commitment on the college basketball recruiting trail, landing one of the top overall players for 2026.

On Friday evening, Dennis Gates picked up a 5-star recruit in the form of Jason Crowe Jr., an elite combo guard out of California. Crowe had already racked up a strong list of offers prior to committing to Mizzou, including offers from Kentucky, Alabama and Arkansas from within the SEC.

Now, he’s poised to be a major difference-maker for the Tigers:

Crowe is listed as a 6-foot-3 and 170-pound southpaw guard out of California’s Inglewood High School. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Crowe is the 6th overall player in the entire country and the No. 3 combo guard nationally for the cycle. He’s the first 5-star prospect in 2026 to commit, and he’s the first hard pledge for Gates.

The head coach has been producing strong results since arriving in Columbia, and landing Crowe is just the latest testament to his turnaround. Crowe is the highest-rated prospect to commit to the Tigers under Gates, and he’s the first 5-star prospect of Gates’s tenure.

Now, we’ll see how his time at Mizzou plays out on the hardwood.
