Alabama coach Nate Oats met with reporters on Friday and shared an injury update on a couple of key players.

Oats provided unfortunate news on star guard Labaron Philon, who suffered a “thigh bruise” in Alabama‘s win over Texas A&M in the mid-week. Oats said Philon was unable to practice on Friday, casting doubt on his status for Alabama’s Saturday meeting with Auburn.

Philon is a candidate for SEC Player of the Year. He’s averaging a league-high 21 points per game this season on great efficiency. If he has to miss time due to injury, it would be a big blow for Alabama’s offense.

In more positive news, Oats did announce that Taylor Bol Bowen was able to practice on Friday. He missed Alabama’s game against the Aggies and played just 2 minutes against Florida back on Feb. 1.

“I thought he was moving pretty well,” Oats told reporters.

Bowen has a unique skillset as he has been one of Alabama’s best rebounders this season while also taking 3.6 3-point attempts per game.

Alabama and Auburn will tip off at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
