Ole Miss lands transfer commitment from former Pistons Summer League player

Ole Miss added to its 2026-27 recruiting class on Tuesday when it picked up a commitment from Corey Stephenson, an All-Conference USA second-team guard in 2025-26 after he posted 18.0 points and 6.4 rebounds. That’s according to a report from On3’s Zach Berry.
A former JUCO player out of high school, Stephenson played two seasons at Cal State Bakersfield in the Big West, averaging 6.7 points in 15.9 minutes in 2023-24 before emerging as an everyday starter in 2024-25. That season, he played in 32 games and started 30, posting 11.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 26.0 minutes.
After his lone season at FIU, Stephenson went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft but ultimately signed a one-year, non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract with the Detroit Pistons. He ultimately played in four games for the Pistons during the Summer League.
Traditionally, Stephenson wouldn’t be allowed to return to college after the NCAA’s 5-for-5 ruling originally didn’t apply to Class of 2022 student-athletes, but an injunction granted in a California court opens the door to that possibility. That one is separate from the similar Colorado injunction, which has been reversed after the NCAA was granted a stay.
Ole Miss was 15-20 overall in 2025-26, finishing SEC play with a 4-14 record.
