Rylan Griffen reportedly enrolled at Texas A&M, ‘intends to return’ pending eligibility ruling for 2026

Rylan Griffen’s eligibility for 2026 was in the air under the NCAA’s 5-for-5 rule. But a temporary restraining order issued by a Texas judge on Thursday that named him as one of 40+ plaintiffs has opened the door for the Texas A&M guard to return to College Station.
In fact, Griffen “is enrolled in classes” at the university, according to TexAgs’ Luke Evangelist. And, if Griffen is ultimately allowed a fifth year, “he intends to return” to the Aggies for what would be his second season with the program after transferring in from Kansas.
One thing to note: Griffen was awarded an invite to the Denver Nuggets’ Summer League roster, where he played in one game. While the SEC prohibits players who have been on a professional NBA roster, that doesn’t apply to players invited to Summer League rosters, as long as they did not sign an Exhibit 10 deal.
The next step in Griffen’s journey to get a fifth year continues on September 11. That’s when he’ll have a hearing for a preliminary injunction.
Should Griffen ultimately receive the fifth year of eligibility he’s been looking for, he’ll rejoin a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Bucky McMillan’s first season. The Aggies went 22-12 overall and 11-7 in the SEC.
