After last weekend’s 6-4 showing in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the SEC is back to its usual Saturday slate of 7 games of conference play.
There are currently 4 SEC teams ranked in the AP Top 25. They’re all on the road Saturday, taking on unranked opponents.
No. 1 Auburn is atop the SEC standings at 9-0 in conference play (21-1 overall). The Tigers are in Athens to take on last-place Georgia, which is 1-8 against SEC teams and 6-16 overall. The Bulldogs are on a 2-game losing skid since upsetting Alabama on Jan. 25. AU topped UGA 83-60 in Auburn on Jan. 19.
Heading into the 2021-22 season, Kentucky at Alabama looked like one of the more intriguing SEC matchups. John Calipari’s Wildcats are ranked No. 5 and 2nd place in the SEC at 7-2 (18-4 overall). Nate Oats’ Crimson Tide squad has had its struggles this year. UA enters the game 4-5 in SEC play this season. Alabama upset a No. 4-ranked Baylor team in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, but fell this week at No. 1 Auburn.
No. 22 Tennessee is at South Carolina. The Vols defeated South Carolina 66-46 earlier this year in Knoxville. UT is 6-3 in SEC play, tied for 3rd with Arkansas.
No. 25 LSU is in Nashville to face Vanderbilt. Will Wade’s Tigers are looking to snap a 2-game losing skid and get back to .500 in SEC play. LSU is 4-5 in SEC play after losing to Ole Miss on Tuesday.
