Auburn basketball was without star forward Keyshawn Hall in last Saturday’s loss to Arkansas, and head coach Steven Pearl decided to play it close to the chest when asked about his availability for Wednesday night against Mississippi State.

Hall is not injured. Rather, the standout UCF transfer is facing disciplinary action, with his suspension labeled as indefinite ahead of last week’s game against the Razorbacks. Ahead of that game, Pearl mentioned that Hall “did not live up to the standard and expectations of our program” leading up to the important matchup.

Hall appears to be earning his way back to the court, but no concrete update was given on Tuesday afternoon. Here’s what Pearl had to say when asked about Hall’s status:

“He had a great practice yesterday. He’s out there getting shots right now, so hope for another great practice today,” Peal said.

Auburn needs Hall back in a big way. The Tigers have lost 4 straight from one of the tougher stretches you’ll find any team face all season. Auburn fell to Tennessee, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Arkansas after beating Texas and Florida.

Auburn’s resume is as strange as you’ll find in the sport right now. The Tigers have suffered 11 losses on the year, but not one of them could be considered unforgivable. All 4 of Auburn’s non-conference losses came to teams currently ranked in the top 10, and the worst loss it has taken all year was against either Mizzou or Georgia – both of which came on the road in SEC play.

With that said, the Tigers need to start stacking wins fast if they want to reach the NCAA Tournament.
