It may be football season up in Rocky Top, but that doesn’t mean that the Tennessee men’s basketball program is staying quiet on the recruiting trail.

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, the Vols have picked up a commitment from 4-star small forward Ralph Scott, who chose Tennessee over several other top programs.

Per Tipton, the 6-foot-8, IMG Academy enrollee chose the Volunteers over Houston, Purdue, and Texas A&M. A top-50 recruit, Scott marks the first commit for Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes in the 2026 cycle.

A dynamic but raw player, Scott possesses all of the upside necessary to become a truly elite collegiate player under the legendary development that Barnes has long been known for.

The Vols have reached historic highs under Barnes precisely because he is so good at bringing in talented players and molding them into the best versions of themselves within his system. This system has led Tennessee to consecutive Elite 8 appearances over the past 2 years, and they looked primed to make another deep run in this upcoming season as well.

With Scott now on board, and another postseason run likely, Barnes and his staff could be on the verge of putting together another phenomenal recruiting class.
