Texas A&M basketball beefed up its backcourt significantly on Sunday morning, getting a commitment from transfer shooting guard Noah Shelby.
The 6-foot-3 Shelby told The Athletic that he was headed to Texas A&M for the 2025-26 season. He’s been around the block during his college basketball career, playing at Vanderbilt and Rice before joining Kansas as a walk-on last season. Shelby has played in a combined 44 games during his time at those 3 programs, and now he’s looking to make an impact in his second go-around in the SEC.
Shelby is averaging 3.9 points and 0.8 rebounds during those 44 career college games while shooting just 34% from the field.
It’ll be a homecoming of sorts for Shelby, who is a native of McKinney, Texas. His decision to transfer to Texas A&M also continues an offseason trend, with former Kansas player Rylan Griffen also transferring to College Station in this current transfer portal cycle. So, Shelby and Griffen will be reunited after spending last season together at Kansas.
Shelby will be starting fresh at Texas A&M after redshirting during his only season at Kansas and not appearing in any games. He’ll look to change all that next season at Texas A&M, which is starting fresh as a whole under first-year head coach Bucky McMillan, who is replacing Buzz Williams.
