Tracy Wolfson offers injury reports for Yaxel Lendeborg, Solo Ball ahead of national title game

UConn and Michigan will face off tonight for the national championship after advancing on Saturday past Illinois and Arizona, respectively. It’s a matchup between 2 true heavyweights, too. Michigan has demolished some of the best teams in the country, but Dan Hurley UConn’s steady consistency in March is nothing to take lightly, either.
Both teams are dealing with some key injuries to be aware of before tipoff. About an hour before the game started, however, CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson relayed a few updates for Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg and UConn’s Solo Ball.
Let’s start with Lendeborg. According to Wolfson, via Wolverines athletic trainer Chris Williams, Michigan believes Lendeborg will be “good-to-go” for Monday night, but whether Lendeborg starts “will go through Dusty May.”
As for Ball, Wolfson reported that UConn “felt comfortable” with Ball during walkthroughs this morning. Ball is not 100%, but is also expected to be on the court.
Despite Michigan not really needing his services against Arizona, Lendeborg is absolutely the player to watch early in this one. The Michigan forward has an NBA-level offensive bag and has been one of the best players in the country. He averages 15 points and just under 7 rebounds per game for a Michigan team that just punishes opponents.
UConn is going to need a herculean effort to win this one. The Wolverines are as strong as any college basketball team in recent memory and have demolished every team they’ve played so far this tournament. Only Alabama was able to keep their result semi-respectable with a 90-77 loss.
Lendeborg was always going to play tonight. He probably should not have re-entered the game against Arizona after aggravating an ankle injury that he sustained during the Big Ten title game, but he did anyway. Here he is reaffirming his want-to to play with Jalen Rose ahead of tonight’s game.
