Washington State shooting guard Jerone Morton will take an official visit to Kentucky on Friday, April 24, according to his father via KSR’s Jacob Polacheck.
Kentucky is viewed as a dream destination for the standout junior according to Morton’s father. “We just love Kentucky, man. He was born and raised here,” his father told KSR. “That’s been his lifetime dream to play at Kentucky.”
Morton originally hails from Lexington and led George Rogers Clark high school to a Kentucky state title in 2022. The 4-star prospect, who played point guard before transitioning to more of an off-ball role in college, was considered a 3-star prospect and committed to Morehead State to play the 2024 season. He played 2 seasons for the Eagles before transferring to Washington State last offseason.
Morton had a solid junior year with the Cougars, too. He averaged 7.6 points per game and just under 3 assists per game while averaging 25 minutes per contest. Notably, Morton was a strong 3-point shooter last season, hitting 39% of his shots from range.
Kentucky has put together a decent past week in the transfer portal, adding former Washington guard Zoom Diallo and former Furman guard Alex Wilkins, both capable scorers with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Considering the duo, Morton would likely play a reserve role for the Wildcats if he were to commit following the visit.
