The SEC opens the season as the top conference in the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25. Nine conference teams are ranked. Here’s where they stand in the preseason poll:

  • No. 2 Tennessee
  • No. 6 Georgia

  • No. 14 Alabama
  • No. 15 LSU
  • No. 18 Florida
  • No. 20 Auburn
  • No. 22 South Carolina
  • No. 24 Texas A&M

The conference coaches also have Tennessee on top entering the 2024 season, picking the Vols to win the SEC in the preseason poll. UT is the SEC’s defending champion, finishing atop the conference standings in the regular season and winning the conference tournament.

The SEC led all conferences in 2023 with 12 teams making the NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma, a future SEC member, picked up its seventh national championship, defeating Florida State to win the Women’s College Series.

Thursday’s schedule includes a pair of streaming games. Tennessee at UT Arlington is currently streaming on ESPN+ (1 p.m. ET start). LSU hosts Nicholls at 7 p.m. ET, which is streaming on SEC Network+. Arkansas, Ole Miss and Alabama are also in action on Thursday.
