The University of Florida has made quite the impression on K.J. Britt.
Britt, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound inside linebacker from Oxford, Ala., took a visit to Gainesville this past weekend and it didn’t take long for him to buy into what coach Jim McElwain is selling with the Gators’ football program, according to SEC Country.
“It’s the best visit I’ve been on,” said Britt, who has also taken visits to Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee. “I was fired up about the whole trip. The coaches took their time out with me. They showed me and my family around and just catered to us.
“Florida is a special place, so any time you can go six, seven hours away and still feel like you’re at home, it’s awesome.”
Scout.com has handed Britt a three-star rating and ranks him as the No. 31 overall player at his position for the recruiting class of 2017. He currently holds 24 offers but named Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Ole Miss and Tennessee as his favorites.
“Coach McElwain took me in his office and he talked to me and my family about life,” Britt said. “Then he included that I had an offer from Florida. It was a great feeling.
“Getting an offer from a head coach is different from anybody else. He told me I fit into their program mentally and athletically and he wants me to be a Gator.”
