4-star LB reverses course after flipping from Mississippi State to Ole Miss on signing day
It’s been a long day for 4-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart.
After beginning the day as a Mississippi State commit, Lockhart flipped to Ole Miss during a public ceremony at his high school on Wednesday afternoon. That alone was a note-worthy signing day storyline in SEC, but there was another another twist in this tale.
Hours after picking the Rebels, Mississippi State announced that Lockhart has, after-all, joined its 2025 signing class.
Here’s the official announcement from the Bulldogs:

Lockhart appears to be in the fold for Mississippi State, although it’s worth noting that Ole Miss did officially announce his inclusion in the class earlier in the day on Wednesday — implying that Lockhart filed his national letter of intent. As of late Wednesday evening, that announcement from the Rebels has not been deleted.
If Lockhart does end up sticking with Mississippi State, it’s a huge recruiting win for the Bulldogs. Lockhart is the No. 140 overall player and the No. 16 linebacker in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
He’s also a key target for both programs as he was developed in the Magnolia State. He attends Winona High School in Winona, Mississippi.
With Lockhart now included, Mississippi State has the nation’s No. 28-ranked recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
