Four-star Memorial (Port Arthur, Texas) CB Kary Vincent Jr. has decided to move up his commitment to July 10, the same day as one of his Texas Elite 7-on-7 teammates. That could be big news for LSU, unless the opportunity to carry on a family legacy wins out.
Vincent told 247Sports’ Luke Stampini that he wants to commit along with four-star S Grant Delpit, a Houston native. The five finalists Vincent named to Stampini were FSU, Texas A&M, TCU, LSU and Texas.
“Grant is committing at The Opening, and I’m just going to commit the same day,” Vincent said. “I know I’m going to do it on a newscast in my hometown, and I’m going to release it on all social media. Originally, I was supposed to do it at the Under Armour All-American game, but I don’t feel the need to wait that long, so I’ll be committing on the 10th.”
Nineteen recruiting experts have made Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports, and 89 percent have Delpit committing to LSU. Similarly, 69 percent of 16 Crystal Ball predictions have Vincent pledging to the Tigers.
Vincent, ranked the No. 17 cornerback of the 2017 class, sees an opportunity to carry on LSU’s tradition as “DBU.”
“LSU is definitely in my top for the simple reason that they produce great corners,” Vincent said. “Coach (Corey) Raymond, he’s been in the business for a long time. Guys like Kevin Toliver coming up, Jamal Adams, that’s just something you want to be around.”
But the Texas A&M legacy is still considering the Aggies.
“Texas A&M, that’s the family alma mater. My dad played corner at Texas A&M and graduated from A&M, so that’s almost like a second home for me.”
