In The Dynasty podcast’s newest episode, former Alabama quarterback and 2-time BCS national champion AJ McCarron called out Ryan Williams and Deontae Lawson for their lack of passion and fight.

In their season opener, No. 8 Alabama lost to unranked FSU 31-17. Many have called out Alabama for its lack of effort, including former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy. AJ McCarron is the next to do so, calling out some of the returning players for having no fight or passion. He mentioned Williams, but went in deeper on Lawson.

Being on that sideline, there was no passion, there was no fight, no dog — especially from the guys that I thought that were returning that would show that: Ryan Williams, Deontae Lawson,” McCarron said. “I did not see that fire.

“I thought Deontae Lawson would be an absolute dog. He was non-existent in this game. I’m just being up front. I love the kid. He graduated from the same school my kids go to. I’ve watched him for a long time. I don’t know if he’s just slow coming back from the ACL, and I’ve had that and trust me it’s not easy, but he played slow, he looked out of shape. He did not play with a reckless abandonment like I thought he would.

Alabama’s next game is scheduled for Sept. 6 at 7:45 p.m. ET against Louisiana-Monroe.
