Alabama adds highly-recruited transfer tight end for 2026 season, per report
Alabama has already begun the task of building its roster for the 2026 season, even as the Crimson Tide still harbor championship hopes for 2025.
According to a report on Tuesday morning by On3’s Pete Nakos, Oklahoma State transfer tight end Josh Ford has signed with Alabama for next season. Ford would be the Crimson Tide’s first transfer commitment for the 2026 campaign.
Ford entered his name into the transfer portal earlier this fall after the firing of Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. The Cowboys players had a 1-month window to decide their future plans after the firing of Gundy, and Ford made his plans clear by choosing to leave Stillwater after the 2025 season.
Now, it appears he’s heading to the SEC and Tuscaloosa in 2026 for the opportunity to thrive with Alabama set to lose tight ends Josh Cuevas and Brody Dalton to eligibility.
Ford is a homegrown product from Stillwater, but that wasn’t enough to keep him around at Oklahoma State for next season. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder made a visit to Alabama in November when the Crimson Tide played LSU, and a little over a month later Ford is reportedly set to make Tuscaloosa his next collegiate home.
He played in 16 games combined in 2 seasons at Oklahoma State, which included 12 games as a freshman. But Ford only played in 4 games this season before entering the transfer portal in October after that 1-month window was set following the firing of Gundy.
