Alabama beats out Georgia for 5-star QB in class of 2027

The Alabama football program earned a significant recruiting victory Saturday, as 5-star quarterback Elijah Haven committed to the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs.
The 2025 Gatorade and MaxPreps Player of the Year in Louisiana, Haven was also pursed by Auburn, Baylor, Florida and Florida State.
Ranked No. 22 overall in the 247Sports Composite metrics, Haven is also the No. 1 quarterback prospect nationally in the 2027 class and fourth-best prospect from Louisiana.
Playing for Dunham School in Baton Rouge, La., Haven powered the Tigers to a 13-1 record as a junior in 2025 and a Division III Select state title โ the school’s first since 2004. Haven set state records in touchdown passes (62) and total touchdowns (73) as he completed 240 of 332 passes for 3,931 yards while also carrying the ball 127 times for 794 yards and 11 more scores.

Haven also earned MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year honors by leading Dunham to a 14-1 record and Louisianaโs Division III Select state championship game. He started as a freshman in 2023 and posted an 8-3 record.
Haven is Alabamaโs second 2027 quarterback commitment, joining 4-star pledge Trent Seaborn from Thompson (Ala.) Alabama now sports five commitments in the 207 class, with athlete Colt Lumpris from Lawrenceville, N.J., defensive lineman Avrian Pauley from Mobile, Ala., and tight end Oakley Keegan from Liverpool, N.Y.
