On Wednesday, it was reported that Alabama cornerback Tony Brown was sent home by the school. Today, we have a clue as to why.

According to sources, the Crimson Tideย sentย the backup CB and key special teams playerย home from the Cotton Bowl becauseย Brown was the instigator inย a fight with one of the Alabama’sย defensive linemen during one of the team’sย practices for the game.

Sources also said the decision was finalized by Alabama’sย player leadership council. There is no indication as to who the defensive lineman was or the severity ofย Brown’s punishment.

On Wednesday, the school released a very brief statement on Brown’s dismissal, only saying, “We have made an internal decision to send Tony Brown home due to a violation of team rules.”

Alabamaย plays Michigan State in the College Football Playoff semifinalย on Thursday night in Dallas. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
