Year 2 of the Kalen DeBoer era down in Tuscaloosa is set to kick off this Saturday on the road against the Florida State Seminoles, and the Alabama Crimson Tide could be missing one of their key starters up front in senior defensive tackle Tim Keenan.

DeBoer revealed on the SEC coaches teleconference that the big man up front for the Tide suffered a lower-body injury. DeBoer added that Keenan’s status for Saturday’s matchup against the Noles could be in jeopardy during a Wednesday morning teleconference.

Waiting for the update on that (severity of Kennan’s injury),” DeBoer said. “I don’t know if I can even give you a percentage and be confident on that. We’ll see, but it is a lower-body injury.

Losing Kennan for the opener would certainly be a pretty massive blow to the Bama defensive front, as the senior captain brings both leadership and experience for the Tide on that side of the ball.

Bama will already be without another senior leader against FSU in starting tailback Jam Miller, who DeBoer announced last week would be out due to the injury he sustained in practice a couple of weeks ago.

Whether or not Kennan is cleared to play likely won’t be revealed until the game kicks off down in Tallahassee on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see whether or not the senior defender can recover enough to make the start for the Tide.
