Alabama improved to 3-1 with a 24-21 win over Georgia on Saturday. The Crimson Tide, though, ended the game with a key injury to one of its linebackers.

According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, redshirt freshman Qua Russaw will miss “some time” after suffering a foot injury against the Bulldogs. Per Zenitz, the injury will require surgery.

The 4-star recruit from the 2023 class redshirted as a freshman in his first season in Tuscaloosa. He played in all 13 games in 2024, totaling 36 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss, and 1.0 sacks. He also came up with 2 interceptions and a forced fumble. In the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan, he had a career-high six tackles.

Russaw had four tackles and 1.0 TFLs through four games in 2025. He left Saturday’s game against the Bulldogs in the second half, though, without recording any stats.

The injury comes at a key stretch of the season for Alabama. In Week 6, it hosts a resurgent Vanderbilt team that’s looking to make it two straight wins in the series. That’s followed by games at Mizzou and a home game against Tennessee.

Saturday’s win ran the Crimson Tide’s win streak to three straight. After a season-opening loss to Florida State, they’ve defeated Louisiana-Monroe, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
