Alabama moves up in Joe Lunardi’s updated bracketology following win over Auburn
After enduring through an up-and-down regular season, Alabama appears to be peaking at the right time as tournament action is set to get underway in the coming weeks.
The Crimson Tide picked up a dominant 96-84 win over Iron Bowl rivals Auburn to close their campaign Saturday, and bracketologists are taking notice of their recent surge.
Having not lost back-to-back games since early January and winning nine of its last 10, Alabama is rising up seed lines, and ESPN’s Joe Lunardi reflected that in his Sunday update.
At 23-8 overall, Alabama jumped into the third-seed line of Lunardi’s latest bracketology as the 10th overall team in the field. The Crimson Tide currently sit behind Iowa State in that group, while Nebraska and Purdue are the squads behind Nate Oats’ group.
Gonzaga was the team that fell in place of the Crimson Tide, with the Bulldogs dropping to the No. 4 line.
After falling to 14-7 at the start of February, Alabama has largely cruised through its remaining SEC slate to secure a double-bye in the upcoming SEC Tournament.
The Crimson Tide will play a quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. ET, with it being broadcast by the SEC Network. No. 7 Georgia, No. 10 Texas or No. 15 Ole Miss could be the opponent in that contest.
