No. 3 Alabama softball is headed to Oklahoma City following a 4-1 victory over Kentucky to sweep the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
The Crimson Tide followed up Friday’s win with another solid performance after they rallied on Friday from an early deficit to defeat Kentucky, 4-3 at Rhoads Stadium. Alabama has now won 18 straight games.
The Tide improved to 50-7 and completed the sweep of Kentucky with a pair of two-run innings and a solid outing from pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl. Star pitcher Montana Fouts was in the bullpen after she threw 134 pitches in the Friday win, but Kilfoyl allowed just the one run in the second game against a dangerous Kentucky lineup.
The Tide offense was fueled by a Maddie Morgan two-run home run which scored Savannah Woodard who singled on the previous at bat. Kaylee Tow also added a run-scoring double.
Fouts on Friday earned the complete-game win, striking out 11 for her 20th game with double-digit strikeouts this season.
The WCWS begins June 3 at the expanded ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
