One of the more interesting moves of the 2025 coaching search cycle has been the hiring of Alabama assistant JaMarcus Shephard by Oregon State to become the next head coach in Corvallis.
Shephard, who has served as the associate head coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide under Kalen DeBoer for the past 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa, was officially named as the next head coach of the Beavers on Friday.
It also looks like Shephard is wasting little time in getting his staff together, as CBS Sports national insider Matt Zenitz is reporting fellow Crimson Tide staffer Eron Hodges is expected to join Shephard at Oregon State as the program’s new general manager.
Hodges currently serves as Alabama’s associate director of player personnel and has over a decade of experience serving in similar roles around the country. Like Shephard, he has been with the Crimson Tide since DeBoer took over following the retirement of Nick Saban.
Now, the pair will be tasked with turning around an Oregon State program that has struggled in recent years as they welcome several new members to what will become the new Pac-12 conference in 2026.
