Will Hodo made sure Alabama left Jacksonville as the top of this weekend’s festivities in Florida.
Alabama trailed Ohio State 10-9 in the bottom of the 9th. Hodo came to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out. On a 2-2 count, Hodo got hold of one and crushed it to left-center field. The 3-run home run ended the game, making the Crimson Tide the champions of the 2025 Jax College Baseball Classic.
Alabama won the Jax CBC as the only team to go 3-0 at the 3-day event in the Sunshine State.
The Crimson Tide started the weekend with a 9-2 win over Coastal Carolina on Friday. UA followed that up by blanking No. 12 NC State in a 4-0 win Saturday.
Ohio State is the first team to score double-digit runs against Alabama. The Buckeyes did all their scoring in the 3rd and 4th innings, exploding for 7 runs in the 4th.
Alabama was down 10-0 in the middle of the 4th inning. The Tide scored 3 in the 4th, 4 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th and the 3 off Hodo’s bat in the 9th. Justin Lebron had a 2-homer, 6-RBI day for UA.
Bobby Alcock, Austin Morris and Beau Bryans were just charged 3 earned runs over the first 3.2 innings. Aidan Moza and Tate Robertson kept Alabama in it. Moza went 2.1 IP, allowing 1 earned run. Robertson threw 3 scoreless innings and got the win thanks to Hodo’s heroics.
Up next, 8-0 Alabama will look to remain undefeated as it returns to Tuscaloosa for a midweek meeting with Jacksonville State on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. ET, with the game streaming on SEC Network+.
