NFL Draft analysts spend the entire calendar year diving into tape, identifying scheme fits and (sometimes) trying to project landing spots for prospects. Other people make guesses, for fun, on gut feeling. That’s probably the best way to classify what Albert Regis’ daughter, Akari, did on Friday morning.
Akari, who is just months old, got to “predict” who would draft her father. A number of teams’ logos were placed on cups, and put on the floor in front of her. She crawled up to them, took a brief second to analyze her options, then made a beeline for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ cup. Later Friday night, the Jags took Regis with the No. 81 overall pick.
Regis — Albert, that is — was ESPN’s No. 14 defensive tackle prospect (No. 134 overall). He spent his entire college career at Texas A&M, recording 49 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks as a senior in 2025. He assisted on 6 tackles in the Aggies’ loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff.
In Jacksonville, Regis will team up with fellow SEC alums Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen along the defensive line. They’ll try to repeat as AFC South champions and make a deep playoff run under former Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen this season.
