Auburn head coach Alex Golesh saw something he hadn’t seen in his team all year following Saturday’s 45-15 loss at Ole Miss.
While speaking with reporters following the game, Golesh mentioned that Auburn‘s lack of finish was among the most disappointing aspects of Saturday’s loss. The Tigers absolutely fell apart after scoring a touchdown to bring the deficit to just 2 halfway through the 3rd quarter. Following a Byrum Brown rushing touchdown, Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels offense scored 28 unanswered points the finish the game.
Here’s what Golesh had to say postgame:
“Disappointing in every way. Though the first half and the opening part of the third quarter, there was an intent that you wanted… I thought (there was) a lack of finish, and that was the first time I’ve seen that out of this team this year. That’s as disappointing as anything, and I’ve got to figure that out. That’s making me as sick as anything.”

It was on both sides of the ball, too. As mentioned, the Rebels scored more than half their points on the evening in the final 18 minutes of the game. Auburn’s offense? Here’s the drive chart following Brown’s 3rd quarter touchdown: 3&out, 3&out, turnover on downs, fumble.
Ballgame.
Auburn is now 4-4 on the season entering Week 10’s matchup against Arkansas.
