Amari Niblack is expected to enter the transfer portal after spending 1 season with Texas, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who notes that Niblack began his career at Alabama. He transferred to Texas ahead of the 2024 season but never carved out a significant role in the UT offense.

During his lone season in Austin, Niblack caught 5 passes for 33 yards. It’s a disappointing outcome considering he arrived in Austin with plenty of expectations and a proven track record. In 2023 with Alabama, Niblack caught 20 passes for 327 yards and 4 touchdowns.

However, things didn’t go as smoothly with the Longhorns. Gunnar Helm earned most of the tight end targets in Texas’s offense this season as he led the team with 60 receptions. But even with Helm declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, Niblack has decided to continue his college career elsewhere.

Texas could look to the transfer portal for help at the tight end position in 2025. The Longhorns have been relatively quiet in acquiring portal talent so far, however. They have just 4 transfer commitments so far this cycle and none are on the offensive side of the ball.

Niblack will have 1 season of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
