Shortly after the Gator Bowl victory over N.C. State, Kentucky TE Justin Rigg announced that he would return to the Wildcats for the 2021 season, and try to build on a season where he was the Wildcats’ third-leading receiver.
Rigg’s announcement follows leading receiver Josh Ali, who made a similar announcement also on Saturday afternoon.
“Don’t count me out just yet #BBN,” Rigg tweeted.
In his statement, Rigg wrote, “I look forward to having another year with this great team. I am very honored to have been welcomed back and am excited for the future to come.”
In the Gator Bowl, he made one catch for eight yards. For the season, Rigg missed two games, but had 11 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown before the bowl game. The 6-foot-6 and 263-pound senior out of Springboro, Ohio is taking advantage of the NCAA rule that waives his eligibility this season.
Last season, Rigg started in 12 of 13 games played, and had at least one catch in six games, totaling 11 catches for 128 yards. He also had five catches for 50 yards, both career highs against Florida, and scored his first collegiate touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end zone on the first play of the second quarter against Toledo.
