Anthony Edwards delivers signature block in huge comeback win for Timberwolves

Anthony Edwards ascended into the realm of true superstardom in the NBA last year during a magnificent run through the playoffs. Now, he’s still coming up clutch for the Minnesota Timberwolves, including during Monday’s major comeback win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
At one point, the Timberwolves trailed by as much as 24 points. They would eventually tie things up late in the 4th quarter as the game rolled into overtime.
While Edwards would flirt with a triple-double in the game, this one was not about his offensive numbers as he finished with just 17 total points and was scoreless in the overtime period. Instead, it was about Edwards’s defense coming up in a clutch moment to preserve a slim lead — and the win.
With 20 seconds left, the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander beat 2 men off the dribble and was able to get to the rim. But Edwards came out of nowhere, meeting Gilgeous-Alexander at the rim to block the shot and keep Minnesota in front, 129-128.

The Timberwolves would make the ensuing free throws and held on for the 131-128 win in dramatic fashion. Jaden McDaniels led Minnesota with 27 points and Gilgeous-Alexander had a game-high 39 for Oklahoma City, but it was Edwards with the clutch moment for the Timberwolves.
Edwards finished off the game with 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double while also racking up a team-high 8 assists to go with his crucial block.
