What Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said after disappointing loss to TCU

The Razorbacks fell to 1-1 in 2017 with a 28-7 loss to No. 23 TCU.
The Hogs could never get the ball moving on offense while TCU scored 14 fourth quarter points to put the game away.
Head coach Bret Bielema has had a rough time during his stay with the Razorbacks. His career winning percentage with the Hogs is back below .500 following Saturday’s loss to TCU.
Here is what Bielema had to say following the game:
Opening statement:
โJust didnโt have a connection, had some dropped balls, had some guys that needed to correct. So as coaches, first, Iโve got to own every minute of that film. As coaches weโve really got to self-assess what weโre asking our guys to do, especially in the second half offensively and figure out what we can do better, because obviously it didnโt work.
“So weโve got a bye week. Weโll really take self-inventory. I think the biggest thing is weโve got to be the most-improved football team in the country from this next week until we play Texas A&M. Their team is very similar to the one we just played, and get a lot better at the details, especially in the critical moments.
“Kicking game, we may either just go for it all the time, or Iโll put in a guy — again, what you see in practice is what you believe is going to happen. We have a kicker that was kicking over 95-percent all the way through fall camp and the first two weeks of the season, and then to go out there and miss two chip shots, especially the second one.
“The reason I wanted to go for it, was it was right in the middle of the field. It was basically a PAT, and it was a perfect protection and perfect snap, itโs inexcusable. So weโve got to find the other option in that regard because weโre not going to go down that path again. So that one weโll move forward on.
“With that, injury-wise, I donโt think we really had anybody of significance during the course of the game, a couple of those guys that were there. On defense, just got some guys, but it wasnโt anything significant. So there was nothing from an injury standpoint to be concerned about.โ
Question: Are Austin Allen and the receivers not on the same page or were guys just not getting open?
โYou know, I donโt want to be too judgmental until I see the lm, but there were de nitely some good plays where he scrapped a lot, made some good plays, but I think there were probably some decisions I bet he wishes he had back, as well as some throws. But I really canโt assess that right now, other than we just didnโt have success.โ
Question: As far as the kicker, is (Blake) Mazza the guy?
โI just didnโt want to go to (Connor) Limpert. You know, heโs a lefty, so that means weโve got to change out the battery, the man thatโs holding it. So Limpert has hit the ball well though. So heโs been what we wanted him to concentrate more on just as kickoffs and Mazza, and Cole (Hedlund) have been doing the PATs and eld goals. But obviously somethingโs going to have to change to get the answer to that.โ

Bielema: We couldn't do anything consistently on the ground, and that affected our play-action pass game and ability to find open receivers.

Bielema: I think we're trying to work too many people at WR. We need to decide who our five guys are and work them.

Bielema: Since January, we've talked about finishing games. That wasn't the group I've been dealing with all year.
