Arkansas reportedly hiring rising coordinator to Ryan Silverfield’s staff
Arkansas is set to fill yet another spot on Ryan Silverfield‘s first coaching staff in Fayetteville with the expected hiring of Clint Trickett as its new quarterbacks coach, according to a report by CBS Sports on Saturday night.
Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer reported Arkansas‘s latest expected hire with Silverfield taking over in 2026. Trickett will be coming to the SEC after a successful 2025 season as the offensive coordinator at Jacksonville State. He directed a high-powered offense this fall at Jacksonville State, which ranked No. 1 in the CUSA in total offense.
The Hogs are banking that Trickett’s coaching will rub off on their quarterback room in 2026. The Arkansas offense struggled so mightily this fall on the way to a 2-10 season and a winless SEC campaign.
Trickett, who played the quarterback position in college at both Florida State (2010-12) and West Virginia (2013-14), is just the latest reported hire by Silverfield. Earlier on Saturday, Zenitz reported that Arkansas was targeting veteran defensive line coach Marion Hobby to be its new defensive line coach.
A Morgantown native, Trickett moved right into coaching after finishing his playing career at West Virginia. He coached quarterbacks at East Mississippi from 2015-16. In 2017, he joined Lane Kiffin at Florida Atlantic. He spent 2 seasons coaching FAU tight ends before moving to the quarterback room and taking on co-offensive coordinator responsibilities.
In 2021, Trickett coached receivers at Marshall. From 2022-23, he coached Marshall’s quarterbacks while serving as the offensive coordinator. He coached tight ends at Georgia Southern in 2024 before joining the Jacksonville State staff last December.
